When it comes to school violence, you can never be too careful. But you can be too bad at recognizing old sit-com theme songs, it seems. A high school student was detained for 3 hours and an entire district was placed on lockdown yesterday — all, according to a local news outlet, because someone misheard the lyrics to the totally nonthreatening tune that opened up the Fresh Prince of Bell Air:
Police said a worker calling to confirm a doctor’s appointment with an Ambridge High School student heard the theme song to the”Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” when she attempted to call. The worker said she called police when she misheard the lyrics — which she claimed said “shooting people outside of school.
