Newsweek, which has been in publication as a print edition for 80-plus years, released their final print-edition issue this morning. Former Newsweek editors-in-chief Jon Meacham and Mark Whitaker feature by-lines in the final issue. Meacham wrote a piece on the selection process for Newsweek’s Presidential covers and Whitaker retraced his civil rights coverage.
In her editorial, Newsweek’s current editor-in-chief, Tina Brown, wrote: ”
This is not a conventional magazine, or a hidebound place. It is in that spirit that we’re making our latest, momentous change, embracing a digital medium that all our competitors will one day need to embrace with the same fervor. We are ahead of the curve.”
Newsweek will still exist as a digital-only publication.
Here’s the final cover.
